Work on 2008 Bond Program Moves Forward
Progress continues to be made on the 2008 Bond Program at East Central High School. Voters approved a $49.8 million bond in May 2008 so that the East Central High School facilities could be updated to meet current and future needs of students. This includes the replacement of older classroom modules with a modern two story academic building. The bond will also enlarge and renovate the cafeteria, provide accessibility to the playing gym, renovate the auxiliary gym and improve access for parent drop off and pick up. Students, faculty and staff have settled into the "Portable Village" set up for temporary classroom use while the new Academic Building is under construction. The first phase of demolition is complete and the foundation of the new Academic Building is under construction. The new Academic Building is scheduled for completion in May 2010. The new Agriculture Science classroom building is also under construction at this time. It is scheduled for completion by June 2009. It is very exciting to see the progress being made on the new facilities and we all look forward to the total project being completed by December 2010.
